Founded in 1994, Corangamite has specialized in partnerships with internet and telecommunications companies that wanted to expand their reach into the Australia and Asia Pacific markets. Each venture has successfully broken into the market and most have gone on to generate multi-million dollar returns within a couple of years. Under the leadership of entrepreneur and founder, Peter Cook, the Corangamite team has demonstrated a talent for spotting leading edge technologies that are cresting in the North American market but still undeveloped in the Asian markets. Cook has built his success on his understanding of the adaptability of North American technology to Asian markets and mastering the art of being first into a new market. In 1994 Corangamite was a founder investor in one of the first competitive telecommunications resale companies in Australia, Long Distance Direct Pty Ltd. Within two years, Long Distance Direct was generating annual revenues of some AUD$30m and serving more than 33,000 business and residential customers. In 1996 Corangamite launched one of the continent's first competitive wireline phonecard companies, Unidial Australia. Within two years of its creation, Unidial was generating revenues in excess of AUD$15 million per year. Following the success of Unidial, Corangamite partnered with Vodafone to introduce pre-paid mobile services to Australia with the founding of Total Tel Ltd. In 1997 Corangamite launched Total Tel International, a global provider of pre-paid telecommunications solutions. Total Tel International now has offices in Australia, India, Indonesia and Brazil and has reference customers in countries including France, India, Sri Lanka, China, Indonesia, Fiji, Malawi, Republic of Guinea and Australia. In late 2000, Corangamite established it's first North American office in Ottawa, Canada's technology capital. This enabled Corangamite to commence offering assistance to Asia-Pacific companies interested in breaking in to the lucrative North American market. |
